BJP councillor shot dead on way home in Ludhiana

A 36-year-old BJP councillor was killed allegedly by unidentified men on Thursday night. Thakur Singh, a resident of Daman, was shot at on his way home from work around 10.30 pm. He was rushed to civil hospital where he was declared brought dead. Police said a case of murder has been registered and investigation is on. The three men on the bike reportedly fled the spot immediately after shooting.


Police sources said Singh was standing outside his house along with his girlfriend when three men on a bike shot him. “We have collected all the CCTV footage in the area but no useful lead has come out so far,” said an officer from Bisht Colony police station. On January 10, a BJP councillor in Jalandhar was shot dead on a motorbike in Rampura Phul area.
